Day wise travel itinerary
Arrive in Zürich Airport and journey to the charming canton of Appenzell, known for its rolling hills, cheese-making traditions, and painted chalets. Spend your evening exploring the village or take a short hike if staying near Ebenalp.
Overnight in Appenzell or on Ebenalp.
Start your day with a hearty Swiss breakfast and head to Ebenalp, accessible by cable car. Visit the Aescher Cliff Restaurant, perched dramatically on a rock face, and the Wildkirchli Caves, once home to hermits. Enjoy scenic trails surrounded by meadows and mountain views before returning to Appenzell’s main square for local beer or fondue.

Depart early for Lucerne, the gateway to the Alps. In the afternoon, stroll through the Old Town, admire the Chapel Bridge, and visit the Lion Monument. Wrap up with a lakeside dinner as boats glide across Lake Lucerne.

Choose your mountain adventure! Ride the world’s steepest cogwheel train to Mount Pilatus or take a scenic cruise and cogwheel train up Mount Rigi, the “Queen of the Mountains.” Return to Lucerne for some shopping or a serene lake cruise.

Today, experience the Gotthard Panorama Express — a journey that blends lake and mountain magic. Start with a boat ride on Lake Lucerne to Flüelen, then board the panoramic train to Lugano through historic tunnels and alpine valleys.

Board the Bernina Express for one of the world’s most scenic train rides. Cross spiraling viaducts, glaciers, and mountain passes en route to Pontresina in the Upper Engadine Valley.

Spend the day discovering Pontresina, St. Moritz, and Samedan. Walk around Lake St. Moritz, visit local boutiques, or take the cable car to Muottas Muragl for sweeping alpine views.

Board the legendary Glacier Express, “the world’s slowest express train,” for an unforgettable 8-hour ride across 291 bridges and 91 tunnels. If weather is clear, continue on to Zermatt for your first glimpse of the Matterhorn.

Explore the car-free village of Zermatt. Take the cable car to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise or ride the cogwheel train to Gornergrat for stunning views. Hike along the Five Lakes Trail or unwind in a cosy alpine café.
